China Glaze All Aboard Fall 2014

Hey all,

I've got some swatches from the China Glaze All Aboard Collection to show you today.  I picked up Lug Your Designer Baggage, Mind the Gap, Loco-motive, and Choo-Choo Choose You.  I have to admit that just based on the pictures of the bottles that I found on the internet, I was a bit underwhelmed.  I am happy to say that, despite my initial impressions, this collection has some really awesome polishes!

Mind the Gap is a mid-tone taupe with green gold shimmer.  It went on easily in two coats for the opacity pictured below.  To me, it looks like Mac Old Gold Pigment had a lovechild with some clear polish.  Beautiful!

Lug Your Designer Baggage is a chocolate brown with lighter beige flakies and a copper microshimmer.  I'm a little wary of brown on my nails against my very fair skin (Illamasqua SB 2 for reference), but it was so pretty in the bottle that I had to take a chance.  The formula went on with no problems in two coats.  I was pleasantly surprised with this brown.  I think it will be a great fall color, and I suspect it would look even better on darker skin tones.  (Sorry, the shade picture went insane with shiny top coat.)

Loco-motive is a moderately dense steel grey glitter with larger round pieces of red and copper glitter.  I really thought this one would be a stand-alone polish based on the bottle.  That said, I had to pile on five coats for the opacity in the photo, and my nail lines still show through.  It's still pretty, but it takes some work.  I also applied one thick coat over Canmake #59 to show what it looks like as a topper.

Choo-Choo Choose You is plummy purple base with holographic shimmer that reflects orange and green.  This one, in my opinion, is the star of this collection.  I usually hate purple on my nails, but I am so glad I took a chance on this one.  It is absolutely beautiful!  It's quite the shape shifter and seems like it has its own coat of unicorn pee built right in.  Yessss!!!!  Amazing.

  1. I have the choose you and mind the gap. I'm wearing the choose you now. It's just way too dark and those pretty colors you have showing outside, don't follow inside, unfortunately. It just turns to blah, dark brown. They should've made it much lighter, and put stronger multichrome effects to it! Now THAT, would've been BAD.ASS. I'm taking it off tonight, trying the mind the gap one. They both have a little color change in the bottles, making it pretty. If I lived outside, then maybe I could the colors in it better! Ha...

    1. You know, you're right about Choo-Choo Chose You in that the multichrome effect definitely stays outside. For me, it's like holographic polishes which really only sparkle and amaze in sunlight. I generally reserve these polishes for a day that I know somebody is going to force this homebody to spend time outdoors. Ha. And honestly, Choo-Choo Choose You read so purple in the bottle that it wasn't even on my radar because I don't wear much of it. I like the tamed down brown indoors, but I know a lot of purple lovers have been disappointed. I really should have taken a pic inside! Let me know what you think of Mind the Gap!

  2. I picked up Choo Choo the other day, I've swatched it but not worn it as a full mani yet. I really like it, I normally wear dark colors and it's definitely different from anything else I have. I also really like all the polish names in the collection, super cute!

  3. Despite the underwhelming initial press release photo, I really liked this one too! Choo-Choo Choose You was definitely a surprise favorite for me.
